Discontinuation Of The ACUVUE® ADVANCE® Family Offers An Opportunity To Upgrade Your Patients To ACUVUE OASYS®

2. January, 2015  Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Companies is committed to enhancing patients' contact lens experience, with ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses that provide optimum comfort, vision and health.

With our commitment to expand the popular ACUVUE OASYS® Brand Family, most recently with additional toric parameters for ACUVUE OASYS® for ASTIGMATISM, the decision has been made to discontinue ACUVUE® ADVANCE® Brand Contact Lenses. Dates for discontinuation are detailed below.

To support Eye Care Professionals in the transitional period, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Companies commissioned market research among nearly 300 wearers of longstanding contact lens brands, and looked at their attitudes and needs when trying an alternative lens. The main learnings are:

  • Patients need to know that their lenses are going to be discontinued and that the alternative lens is a better option for them.
  • Patients are interested in a free trial of the new lens, coupled with a satisfaction guarantee.
From insights to practice

Using these insights, Eye Care Professionals are encouraged to offer their ACUVUE® ADVANCE® and ACUVUE® ADVANCE® for ASTIGMATISM wearers the chance to experience ACUVUE OASYS® Brand Contact Lenses, and for the following reasons:

  • It is an easy and smooth transition: in a clinical trial, 100% of patients successfully fitted with ACUVUE® ADVANCE® were also successfully fitted with ACUVUE OASYS®.2 In a separate clinical study, when refitting from ACUVUE® ADVANCE® for ASTIGMATISM to ACUVUE OASYS® for ASTIGMATISM, exactly the same lens prescription was used 100% of the time.2

  • Patients will love their new lenses: 9 out of 10 ACUVUE OASYS® wearers agree their lenses are the most comfortable they have ever worn.3

  • Thanks to HYDRACLEAR® Plus technology, with a higher volume of wetting agent, ACUVUE OASYS® delivers superior overall comfort compared to ACUVUE® ADVANCE®.

  • Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Companies will be supporting Eye Care Professionals during the transition: a communication will be attached to the ACUVUE® ADVANCE® family packaging to inform patients about the coming discontinuation and the free trial of ACUVUE OASYS®.

Mathilde Beau, Marketing Director UK & Ireland - Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Companies commented: 'We

believe that more patients should experience the amazing comfort, vision and health of ACUVUE OASYS® Brand Contact Lenses and we know that existing ACUVUE® ADVANCE wearers would be interested in trialing it.'
