When to Change your Contact Lenses

How often you change your contact lenses for a fresh pair will depend on the type of lenses you wear. If you are unsure, your eye care practitioner can give you advice about which contact lenses will best suit your needs and how frequently you should replace them.

Daily disposable contact lenses

Simply put in your lenses when you wake up and discard them at the end of the day. With ACUVUE® daily disposable lenses there’s no need to clean or store your contact lenses. Just change them for a new pair each day.

Reusable contact lenses

Unlike monthly lenses which can be worn for a whole month before you replace them, our ACUVUE® reusable contact lenses such as ACUVUE OASYS® or ACUVUE OASYS® for ASTIGMATISM. are replaced twice a month for a fresher, better experience.

clean and store them at the end of each day and after a fortnight replace them with a new pair.

The easiest way to stay on schedule with your reusable contact lens care is to follow these tips:

  • Replace your reusable lenses on the same day of the week. A good routine is to discard your old contact lenses on a Saturday night and start with a new pair on Sunday morning.
  • Use our free ACUMINDER® service to help you remember when to change your lenses, buy new lenses and when you are due for an eye test.
  • Mark the date on the lens packet when you open a new box of contact lenses.
  • Write “reorder” on your last box of lenses along with the telephone number of your eye care practitioner, to remind you to call and order your new supply. This way you won’t be left without lenses.
