Acuvue Oasys Disposable Soft Lenses
Contact lenses that do not transmit enough oxygen are not healthy for the cornea. When low oxygen transmission lenses are worn all day they can cause corneal swelling and eye redness to name just a few problems. Silicone has been added to Acuvue Oasys lenses to create a porous material so more oxygen can pass through the lenses to keep eyes healthy. Silicone hydrogel lenses transmit up to 500% more oxygen than other types of soft lenses. However, the addition of silicone often creates a stiffer, less comfortable contact lens. Acuvue has solved that problem by its exclusive, patented Hydraclear Plus technology which combines the silicone polymer with an extremely moisture rich wetting agent which keeps the lenses moist, soft and smooth without any coatings necessary.
Acuvue Oasys lenses have received a seal of approval from the American Optometric Association for being class 1 UV-blockers. The standards are set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Standards Organization (ISO). In order to be considered a class 1 UV-blocker, the contact lenses must block 90% of UVA rays and 99% of UVB rays. UV exposure increases the chances of developing eye problems in the future such as cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Acuvue Oasys soft contact lenses provide extra protection but should always be used in conjunction with UV blocking sunglasses in order to provide complete protection.
Acuvue Oasys are two week disposables which is an advantage over monthly disposables for people who have dry eyes and allergies. If you suffer from either of those problems, it is best to dispose of your contacts more frequently in order to prevent deposits from building up on the lens surface and causing eye irritation.

Possible Disadvantages of Acuvue Oasys
Extended Wear for up to Six Nights
Acuvue Oasys are approved for extended/continuous wear for 6 nights/7 days so they must be thrown out after a week if you are sleeping with them. This requires you to purchase 16 boxes for the year instead of the usual eight boxes. If you desire to sleep in contacts for longer than six nights, Acuvue Oasys are not right for you. There are other soft disposable lenses that are FDA approved for continuous wear up to 30 days.
Available Parameters of Acuvue Oasys

‡***WARNING: UV-absorbing contact lenses are NOT substitutes for protective UV-absorbing eyewear such as UV-absorbing goggles or sunglasses because they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area. You should continue to use UV-absorbing eyewear as directed. NOTE: Long-term exposure to UV radiation is one of the risk factors associated with cataracts. Exposure is based on a number of factors, such as environmental conditions (altitude, geography and cloud cover) and personal factors (extent and nature of outdoor activities). UV-Blocking contact lenses help provide protection against harmful UV radiation. However, clinical studies have not been done to demonstrate that wearing UV-Blocking contact lenses reduces the risk of developing cataracts and other eye disorders. Consult your Eye Care Practitioner for more information.

Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism
Two-Week Disposable Soft Lenses for People with Astigmatism
Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism incorporates all the features listed above for Acuvue Oasys except that the lens is made for people with mild to moderate amounts of astigmatism. Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism is a toric lens (multiple focal powers within the lens) used to improve vision for both hyperopic and myopic people that have astigmatism.
It is very important for a lens that corrects astigmatism to be stable because when it rotates on the eye the vision will blur. These lenses have four points of stabilization that work with the blink to quickly center the lens and provide clear vision.
Available Parameters of Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism
The lenses are available on one base curve, 8.6 mm and one diameter, 14.5 mm.
The available sphere powers are from +6.00 to -9.00 diopters.
The astigmatism (cylinder) powers are from -0.75 to -1.75 diopters and the axis increments are in 10 degrees.
